Actually, it isn’t tomorrow, it was this last weekend – the Springfield Art Council’s Summer Arts Festival kicked off with a community production of Annie - and it was exceptional!! The lead, Ana Smith, was perfectly “Annie.” Her performance was lively and creative. Beth Dixon played Lily St. Regis and she was such a wonderful physical actress, truly gifted, and played the part so well! One audience member commented on the character of Daddy Warbucks and how his vocal performance was the best he had ever heard, even compared to the several times he had seen it on Broadway! Everything from the performances of all cast members, to the sets and the costumes were just fantastic. The audience was captivated, there was such an air of excitement in the crowd and everyone that I talked to was just thrilled with the overall experience of the show. It was a wonderful way to bring the community together and really instill pride in the city. The Ohio Lyric Theatre and the Springfield Arts Council really should be commended for the outstanding product they shared with Springfield!
Two friends sitting in a kayak were getting cold so they decided to light a fire in their boat. It promptly sank, proving once again that you can’t have your kayak and heat it too.
Bad jokes aside, if you haven’t checked out the new and improved Buck Creek, plan to stop by soon. It now features whitewater for kayakers (NOT SWIMMERS!) to brave. And it is gorgeous to boot.
